The Canadian Box Tour
August 25 - September 15, 2018
Drummer and Engineer, Jordan De Liso and I traveled from Vancouver to Niagara Falls getting lost in the wonders of Canada, collaborating on thirteen sound/movement pieces, and creating a documentary about boxes. Here are some elements of our adventure.
Nicky Watts In A Box
This tour started out the International Tour for Nicky Watts In A Box Series. It was the first time I had a partner on tour with me, Jordan De Liso. He was the Videographer and Collaborator. For the first two days, I performed in Nicky Watts In A Box. After the second day, I declared I no longer needed to bind myself with the tortures associated with the Nicky Watts In A Box series. I’ve hated being Nicky Watts In A Box for five years. This tour ended up being my freedom from it.
As part of the tour, Jordan and I purchased an old beat up Chevy Express whom we named Forest. Forest was a magical feminine goddess who gifted us a return home ticket with ease. Van life. Forest taught me about the power of positive thought and what love has the power to do. We fed her with love and care and she woke up as our journey ventured on. We healed together. Forest really showed me the power of believing in life. We were all close to Universe.
Since I scrapped Nicky Watts In A Box, Jordan and I were faced with having to create an art tour on the spot. We had already planned to do some collaborations together, him on drums and me using movement. We decided to focus the tour on these collaborations and to feel the freedom to have fun and experiment. Most of the time I did movement, but we also had a couple in which I played music with Jordan and in one of them, Jordan did movement to my drumming. There were approximately thirteen.
During our trip, we shot approximately one hundred and fifty hours of footage. Our goal was to create a documentary. I’m not sure, yet, where it will lead, but hopefully it will result in something cool.
